In-class spelling bee!

Language

The in-class spelling bee competition was held today. The Grade 5's went to Ms. Khan's class for their spelling bee this morning. Congratulations to Aamna and Sethumi for making it to the Top 2 in our class!

Homework: Spelling test tomorrow. 

Math

We worked on a math review package in class and we will take up the answers tomorrow in class.

Homework: Complete math review package if not completed.

UOI

Learning goal: Students will learn about Haikus.

We looked at four pictures that are related to nature. Students had to use descriptive words to describe what they saw in each one. This helped them brainstorm descriptive words in their own writing of a Haiku. We also read some examples of Haikus before students created their own.

UOI Unit- Arts Alive

Language

Students practiced for the in-class spelling bee competition tomorrow. The in-class spelling bee competition will be tomorrow in my class for Grade 4 spellers and Grade 5 spellers will go to Ms. Khan or Ms. Walls classroom.

Math

Students completed math review in class by completing the Show What You Know pages in the textbook on pg. 300-301.

We started our new UOI unit: Arts Alive. We looked at 2 examples of an acrostic poem with "Friends" and students created their own acrostic poem using their own name as their title page.

Homework: Complete title page if not completed. Colour and decorate.

The rest of the class who didn't get to present their summatives had a chance to do it today. After that, the students had to complete their IB reflection sheet and transfer work from their student binder to their IB binders.

Learning goal: Students will learn about prefixes ex, de, dis, un, and ad (lesson 32)

Students wrote their spelling words in their agendas and started to work on lesson 32 activities.

Homework: Lesson 32. Spelling test signed and corrected.

Math

Learning goal: Students will learn about dividing decimals with hundredths.

We looked at examples on pg. 297 and 298 and students worked on pg. 299 questions 1-5.
