Calculating the Perimeter of a Rectangle

Reading Buddies

Language

Students worked on their science fair project. They had to write the good copy of their variables, materials, and procedure.

Homework: Spelling test tomorrow. Please keep the science fair package at home for conducting the experiment at home on the weekend.

Math

Learning goal: Students will learn to measure the perimeter of a rectangle.

The are 2 formulas for finding the perimeter of a rectangle:

1) Multiply the length by 2, Multiply the width by 2, then add.

Perimeter= 2 x length + 2 x width

Ex:
2 x 6 + 2 x 4
12 + 8
P = 20 units

2) Another way is add the length and width, then multiply by 2.

Perimeter= (Length + Width) x 2

Ex:

6 + 4= 10
10 x 2= 20
Perimeter= 20 units

Students worked on textbook pg. 329 questions 1, 3, and 5.

Homework: Math Sheet

UOI

Students continued on their summative project. They have all started to work on the explanation part of the presentation. Please continue to bring the materials needed tomorrow and next Monday to school.
