Math Review

Language

Learning goal: Students will read "Anne of Green Gables" Chapter 12.

Students gave a summary of the previous chapter and I read out loud Chapter 12 of the novel. Students completed comprehension questions in their duotangs.

Math

Today we took up the math review in the textbook from yesterday's "Show What You Know" on pg. 222 and 223. Students asked questions for any clarification they needed.

Homework: Math review package. Math test on Monday, November 13.

UOI

Students completed a pop quiz on the Light and Sound workshop on Tuesday to test students' knowledge and understanding so far about light.

Science Fair

I will be introducing the Science Fair procedures next Tuesday and I would like to ask students to research for their science fair experiment over the weekend. They can get ideas online and print them out for Monday. Based on their experiment, I will be teaching students how to write the scientific method. They will need to look over the science project they will be conducting before Tuesday's class to get an idea of what they will be creating.

Please ensure that the science experiment chosen is MEASURABLE! Thank you :)

Ideas for Science Fair: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/

Week of November 13- Students only need to bring the instructions and steps for their project to work on the scientific method.

Week of November 20th- Students work on the good copy of the scientific method and decorate their bristol board (one board will be provided for each student)

Weekend of the 25th and 26th- Students will be creating and testing their experiment at home and write the conclusion of their results.

November 29th- Students need to bring their final science fair project to school to present at the Science Fair on November 30th.

Announcements

A friendly reminder that Monday, November 13th is World Kindness Day. By bringing in $2, students can participate in a special World Kindness Day event by writing a kind message or quote on a leaf and then post it on Oakwood Academy's World Kindness Tree for all to see. In addition to sharing their kind words, they will be supporting their neighbours at Oakwood and also be allowed to dress casually.

On that note, a student in our class has taken action to bring in a "Operation Christmas Child" shoe box that will help provide items for a child in need in Ukraine. We ask for students to bring in a donation amount of their choice, which will help the student purchase items to be placed in the shoe box and sent to Ukraine for Christmas.

Another student has also started a donation box for United Way Peel Region. She will be accepting donations until December 15!

Thank you for your support!
